The Power of Praise
Do you ever think back and say to yourself how amazing God has been for you in life? That without Him you would not know where you would be or if you could honestly make it in life? That He happens to be your Lord and He is mighty? That He moves the oceans and valleys to reach you and bless you? That He is majestic, mighty, and glorious above all?
All these things come down to one very thing, PRAISE!
What is Praise?
When you are praising someone or something, you are showing your admiration for it. You appreciate it and cannot help but speak of it and what it has done.
To praise means
-to express WARM approval or admiration
-to offer great homage to as through words or songs
Praise is not only meant for one time. Praise is continuous. When you find yourself in the midst of His presence, you can express your praise to Him. Praise to God, is meant at any time. You don’t have to wait for some to tell when you can praise but when you feel it in your spirit, you can sing a song of admiration to God.
How can you use Praise?
When you are praising God you are telling His greatness and all the good deeds He has and continues to do. You voice your thoughts on the miracles He continues to answer and provide you.
Revelation 4:11 says, “You are worthy, O Lord, To receive glory and honor and power; For You created all things, And by Your will they exist and were created.” We can praise God simply by speaking of the things He has already done in the world. God is our creator. He made heaven and earth and for us to be cohabitants and to live. Just knowing this alone is something God should be praised for. He has done so much that many feels overwhelmed with happiness and awe to see the actual wonders and amazing things He has done.
The Power Behind Praise
Giving praise to God leads to more blessings upon your life. All that you have to say to Glorify His name holds stronger meaning and depth when God blesses you. I was told once that you could pray time and time again, asking and hoping that God would give you what you desire and or see you through your season of struggles or what ever may be the trial you are facing. However it is not until you start to praise Him that you truly see His awesome wonders.
God knows what He has in store for your life. He has already predestined your life and what will occur for you. But of course God will not make it easy for you to just know what he has in store. He wants you to take that opportunity to truly show the love that you have for Him. That you continue to thank Him for what He has already done for you and what you know He will do for you down the line.
The power of praise is what draws you closer to God’s presence. You would find yourself in the midst of praising and suddenly you feel warmth, happiness, peace and joy. All these feelings occur whilst you are praising our Creator. He moves closer to us and dwells there when we are giving Him all the praise.
Praise also refreshes our spirits and draws our focus back onto God. We can be so consumed by what is going in this world, that often times we forget God is with us and has been fighting out battles for us. I can remember countless times that I got carried in life and that I didn’t let God take the reigns of my life or that I didn’t let Him have complete control of my life. During these times I felt like all hope was lost and that I may not make it through the circumstance I was facing. But then something changed for me. I remembered a dream–can’t recall all the details–where I felt someone speaking to me and assuring me that all will be well in do time. The only thing they expected of me was to be drawn back closer to God. I found myself spending more time in prayer but it wasn’t just prayer alone. I devoted my ENTIRE day to speaking praise onto God. I felt more and more at ease doing this because I didn’t that heavy weight or burden upon my life any longer. It just felt truly great to continuously give God the praise and honor His MIGHTY name.
I knew of the power that could come from praise given to God. Being able to humble myself and speak with Him about His goodness and how He has been there caring for me and guiding me through my life. This is what we should always find ourselves doing. We should be able to speak praise to His name and of the things that He has already done. We serve a truly wonderful living God, why not honor Him and praise Him?
There is a power behind our praise. It gives us the blessings that God knows He has for us. We bring ourselves closer to His love and He pour more grace into our lives. God begins to change things for us in our lives through praise. When we praise Him our blessings multiply. When we least expect it, God will give us a miracle we thought would not come or one that we did not expect. He does this because of His love for us. And in return we should show Him our love for Him and praise Him to the fullest.
Praise be to God, Always!
Psalms 145:3
“Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; And His greatness is unsearchable.”
